I have been down with bronchitis for most of the holidays, not able to think much, read much or do anything for that matter. But I was all cozy and comfortable at home, all bundled up in a warm comforter sitting by the fire, beside our beautiful Christmas tree. I managed to see a doctor to get the drugs I needed (all legal!) to stop coughing my guts out (sorry that’s the way it really felt ). I took nice warm showers to help me feel better. My loving “caretakers” brought me warm soup, tea, water or anything I needed without me having to move! (Just living the dream!)
With the year coming to an end, many of us are getting ready (and even excited, or is it just me?) to update our various financial metrics. It has been such a great financial year for the market. But this week none of that mattered, I was in a complete fog (still am actually). All I wanted was warmth, lots of rest and somebody to take care of me. And lucky me, I got it all!
But how many people out there don’t even get that? I am only talking about basic needs. How many people struggle, not to get to FI (financial Independence) but just to meet their basic needs? Yes maybe some of them are just lazy or not trying hard enough, but there can be a lot of valid reasons why people are struggling: physical or mental health, addiction, loneliness, lay-off… So what better way to end the year and show how thankful we are for what we have by doing one random act of kindness today! And enroll as many people as we can to do the same.
It doesn’t matter what you do, just DO IT! Get out of your comfort zone and do one random act of kindness today!

Wishing you all a Happy New Year.
Hi Caroline, Hope you are feeling better. Nice thought. My neighbors are away for the holidays, so I’m going to shovel their drive when I do mine this morning. Happy New Year. Tom
Just starting to feel better now, it was brutal! Nice going on the driveway:)
They had this in the Rockstar forum as a topic, act of kindness from Chief Mom Officer. Lovely idea!
I am still a little confused how that forum works:( But didn’t see anything about act of kindness, thanks for letting me know.
Caroline,
I hope you get well very soon. It has been very cold the last couple of days in central Ohio, and won’t warm up until probably after the New Year. Helping others is a great way to wrap up 2017 and start 2018.
Thanks Helen, yes very cold here too!
I hope you are feeling better! TBH I haven’t really done a random act of kindness….I get so caught up in my immediate family stuff over the holidays…Our family traveled to my hometown for a big reunion, which is a mixed bag, and I end up only thinking mostly about myself, ugh. I know I should be more thankful. I guess I did give $100 donation to a young new blogger who I don’t really know to help fund her friends’ mission in South America. That’s the best I’ve got! Here’s to doing better in 2018!
Anything is good:) Hope you enjoyed your little break back home. Happy New Year!
I’ve never really done a random act of kindness. But now that I have time in semi-retirement, I think I’ll give it a shot.
Happy New Years!
Troy
Once you start you may not stop! It doesn’t necessarily require that much effort but it can make such a big difference. Happy New Year Troy!
